Ether ship is licensed New York based international award winning design firm including New York Young Architect award, UIA-UNESCO Celebration of cities, Korea next generation design leader award, Boston unbuilt award and Italy Marmomac award. Our interest in architecture arises from increasing the potential value and definition of the site. There could be various ways to designing a certain site. One by respecting the entirety through designing the building harmoniously with the context, or another by presenting differentiation through contrasting forms and materials. First approach would be difficult to show the site’s own characteristic and the potential difference in terms of space and time. Second approach also the risk of decreasing the value of the buildings around. In order to meet the optimum middle ground, revealing a difference from while respecting the context should come “together”. To reveal the difference, we have studied the parametric approach, contemporary geometrics in mathematics, and pattern variations as well as to test various concepts; we have grafted techniques from other fields of interest (chemistry, art and etc). With regards to respecting the existing context, we strive for understanding of politics, local culture, behavioral patterns, policy changes in near future or social conflicts and of the people of the site should be considered. With these two very different yet complimentary spectrums fused together, the invaluable site can thus be achieved.
